Living with a Spanish family is the best way to experience the Spanish lifestyle, get to know the customs and practise the language. We carefully select our families so that our students feel like part of them.

The house of the family
Students stay in single or double rooms and can choose between three types of board (breakfast, half board or full board). Weekly laundry and cleaning service is included. You will have your own keys to come and go as you wish, but you must respect some basic rules and schedules, especially for meals.
The host families
Do not expect the homes of the host families to be luxurious, but for sure they are comfortable and hospitable. Most families live close to the school and the average distance to the school is 25 minutes by public transportation.

The small groups at suitable levels made for a really fun atmosphere where we had excellent and dedicated teachers. After lessons we were taken around many of Valencia's attractions and other various activities. At the end of the day I could return to my homestay accommodation which the school had found for me which was comfortable, clean and within a very suitable distance from the school. There I could practice speaking Spanish with my host and other guests during the evening meal. I want to thank International House for making my stay in Valencia so comfortable and safe, and at the same time, such fun while giving me lots of challenges with learning a new language.

Hello, my name is Yann, I’m 18 years old and I’m from Belgium. I live with a host family, with Gaspar, Leticia and their daughter Sofia. They are a super nice family and sociable people. I talk a lot with them about everything, like the best things to do or the best place to eat with friends and so on. At the same time, I’m improving my Spanish and my vocabulary. They are always there to help me if I have any vocabulary question or trivial questions. And if there is any vocabulary problem Gaspar can speak English. They make my stay go by very quickly. And Sofia adds a touch of happiness in the house. And Leticia is the best cook in the world. She cooks a lot of different things and typical food from Valencia. The apartment is located next to the Turia a beautiful park where you can run and cycle or have a picnic and much more. There is a bus that goes directly to the beach in 30 minutes next to the building.

Frequent questions
# 1 What is the difference between the different types of accommodation?
You have different options; In the host family you become familiar with the Spanish way of life. If you choose a shared apartment, you will have the possibility of cooking and you will live with other students from the school. The apartments are well equipped but not very luxurious. The student residence is also a good option.
# 2 How many students share an apartment?
Between 2 and 6.
# 3 How many students can be in a host family?
A maximum of 4 and of different nationalities.
# 4 Do I have to bring towels or bedding?
Bed linen is included, you will have to bring your towels if you choose accommodation in a shared apartment. In host family they’ll be washed once a week. In any case, we suggest that you bring your own beach and bath towel whatever the type of accommodation you choose.
# 5 Will I have laundry?
Yes, both in the residence and in the apartments, you will have washing machines at your disposal. In host family you have laundry included once a week.
# 6 Are there other accommodation possibilities?
Yes, if you prefer, we can organize other options, such as individual studios, hotels, etc … Please contact us and we will inform you.
# 7 Can I use the family kitchen?
Not normally, but there can always be exceptions. It would be necessary to check with the family.
# 8 Are there double rooms?
Yes, in all types of accommodation. You would share a room with another student of a different nationality, same sex and similar age.
# 9 What is the minimum stay?
Una semana. Normally entry is on Sundays and departure on Saturdays.
# 10 What other services are offered?
24-hour emergencies: In the event of an emergency, students have a 24-hour emergency phone number that they can call for help.
Medical insurance: Medical insurance also includes emergency and repatriation services; the insurance certificate meets the requirements of the student or tourist visa in Spain.
Transfers: We organize transfers to and from the accommodation upon arrival and departure.
