Is it for me?
Yes, if you are between 13 and 19 years old, you want to learn Spanish and you want to spend a few days in Spain and learn about Spanish culture and traditions. You like to make friends from other countries and nationalities, share experiences and dream of a surprising and special summer. We propose a total immersion in the Spanish culture, not only in the language that you will learn in class, but also in its traditions and lifestyle.
What am I going to learn?
During your Spanish classes we will focus on all areas of the language in a very practical way so that you can quickly improve the communication in Spanish regardless of your level. In class the atmosphere is relaxed and fun. In addition, your course includes a lot of activities such as afternoon on the beach, bike tour, gymkhana around the city, barbecues, dance classes, visits to museums … you will enjoy with your new friends and at the same time you will get to know Spanish culture and traditions.
How are we going to do it?
You will have 4 hours of class per day from Monday to Friday and a lot of different activities from Sunday to Friday. On Saturdays we organise a full day excursion.
What do I need to know about our summer camps to learn Spanish for international students?
When does the programme start?
The programmes take place between June 16th and August 16th. You can join the programme any Monday with prior booking.
How long should my programme last?
You can choose the duration of your stay in the programme from 1 to 9 weeks.
What is the minimum age required for the programme?
You can enjoy the Summer camp if you are between 13 to 15 years old and the Summer Getaway if you are between 16 to 19 years old.
What level of Spanish do I need to have?
It is not necessary to have any knowledge of Spanish, your adventure begins with us!
What schedule will I have?
Normally classes are in the morning (09:30 – 13:20) and activities in the afternoon (16:30 – 19:30) although it is possible that some days you will have activities in the morning and classes in the afternoon.
Are there activities in the programme?
Every day there are activities which include cultural visits, sports competitions, barbecues, dancing lessons, afternoons at the beach or shopping.
On Saturdays we run full-day excursions, while on Sundays you are free to spend the day with your host family or to meet friends and join the school activity in the evening.
Can I live with a host family?
Students who choose host family are accommodated in double rooms, and we place them together with another teen and a different mother tongue.
The average journey to school for our students is 25 minutes (public transport: bus or metro might be needed) and many families live closer than those in surrounding neighbourhoods.
What about the Summer Camp residence?
Summer campers (13-15 y.o.) who choose residence live in our Resiolé Mercado residence, is located in the old town just 6 minutes walking to school. Students stay in double, triple or quadruple rooms with shared bathrooms.
Meals are taken in the residence canteen (breakfast, lunch and dinner).
And the Summer Getaway residence?
Summer Getaway (16-19 y.o.) students live in a modern residence located 12 minutes walking from the school, in double rooms and private bathroom.

What do our teen Spanish immersion camps include?

What is your level of Spanish?
Españolé offers you the most appropriate Spanish program for your level.
A1 – Beginners
Students can deal with simple straightforward exchanges in familiar contexts. They can usually understand enough to keep a very basic conversation going.
A2 – Pre-Intermediate
Students can understand and express information about the present, past and future. They can deal with most situations involved in travelling around a Spanish speaking country, including communicating most personal and everyday information.
B1 – Intermediate
Students can comfortably interact with native speakers. They can participate in discussions and express their viewpoints in familiar contexts. They can describe experiences in their past as well as explain and give reasons for their plans, desires and ambitions for the future.
B2 – Upper-intermediate
Students can express their ideas on general topics clearly in both the spoken and written form. They are familiar with and can competently use more complex structures and have a good level of fluency andbroader vocabulary including some idiomatic expressions.
C1 – Advanced
Students are capable of understanding most lectures, discussions and debates. They are able to develop a well-structured argument with supporting evidence and explanations in oral and written form. Students have broadened their general language capability and vocabulary to feel comfortable operating effectively in social, academic and professional spheres.
C2 – Superior
Students have a high level of written and spoken Spanish They can participate easily in discussions and write well- structured compositions even on complex, unfamiliar situations. They can give clear presentations on complex issues, integrating sub themes and developing particular points.

Frequent questions
#1 Do you have an emergency line?
Yes, we do. It is a 24h line.
#2 Is there supervision?
The students in both programmes are supervised during the lessons and activities. Host families and supervisors in the residence take care of the students in accommodation.
#3 How much free time do summer programmes participants have?
Sundays are considered a rest day and students have this day to themselves to spend with their friends, catch up on rest, explore the city etc. Whatever the students decide to do they have to inform their supervisor or host family if they leave their accommodation, who will stay in contact with them if needed. Additionally, students have free time between lessons and activities, as well as in the evening until fixed time they have to come back home.
#4 What time do students have to return to accommodation in the evening?
Summer Camp students (13-15 years old) have to be back for dinner, and are not allowed to go out later (Dinner is normally between 21:00 and 21:30). On Friday and Saturday, they are allowed to be out until 23:00.
Summer getaway students (16–19-year-old) have to return to their accommodation by midnight (00:00) every day from Sunday to Thursday. On Friday and Saturday, they are allowed to be out until 01:00.
Parents can set earlier curfew times after the booking. Please, make sure that your children agree with the set time.
#5 Is Valencia a safe city?
Valencia is a safe middle-size town. Students are allowed to go out until fixed time at night. However, we strictly require to stay in contact with the school by phone.
#6 What do they usually do on the weekends?
All students who are staying another week, will join a weekend excursion on the Saturday. If a student is not continuing with the programme the following week, but would still like to join the weekend excursion they are welcome to at an extra cost of 55€. Students who have booked an extra night to leave on the Sunday will have the excursion included in the cost of their programme.
On Sunday evening there is a BBQ party (with vegetarian options) on the school terrace with a dinner and games to allow the new students who have just arrived to interact with the other students.
#7 Do Summer Camp and Summer Getaway participants study together?
No, it is two different programmes. Each programme has its own Spanish classes with daily activities. The participants of the two programmes can meet each other during the Sunday parties. You can see the schedule for each programme here:
#8 What nationalities are the students on the Spanish summer programme?
Our students come from more than 40 different countries, all with the aim of learning or improving their knowledge of the language and getting to know the Spanish way of life. Most of them come from European countries, especially Germans, Italians, French, British, Americans, Bulgarians, Czechs, Swiss and Poles. The school atmosphere is very relaxed and perfect for using your new language skills and making friends.
#9 What are the timetables for the Espanole summer courses?
Our summer Spanish courses can have morning classes or zig-zag classes (some days in the morning and others in the afternoon), although it depends on the number of places and groups.
In any case, classes start at 9:30 in the morning and at 14:30 in the afternoon. The summer programme for young people is very complete, in addition to the classes there are interesting activities and visits every day and on Saturday there is a full day excursion.
#10 Is it better to take a host family or the residence?
The residence and host family provide the same accommodation regarding meal plan (full board) and shared room (double, triple, quadruple rooms). In the residence students are surrounded by more other students every day, while with the host family they will be able to enjoy the Spanish culture and practice more Spanish. Host families have between 2 and 4 students.
#11 Can we book a single room?
No, both programmes include shared room accommodation so that students can make friends and enjoy more their Spanish summer experience. They will share a room with peers of the same gender and different nationality.
#12 And where are the meals?
If you live with a family, you will have breakfast and dinner with them, at lunchtime you can choose to go home for lunch or take a picnic to school (this is the option most students prefer). If you live in a residence, all meals are taken there.
#13 If my child is a beginner in Spanish and can only communicate in English, what if she doesn’t understand anything?
As the goal is to learn Spanish, we do everything (classes, activities etc) in Spanish. However, if your child is a complete beginner and has difficulty understanding, we will assist in English where needed.
#14 If my child is almost 16 can I book the Summer Getaway program?
We can make an exception for students who are not 16 during their stay with us but they are born in 2008.
#15 What method is used in the Spanish summer programmes for young learners?
Our summer Spanish courses for foreigners follow the same dynamic as the rest of our programmes. The aim is for students to learn to communicate in Spanish, so we combine different approaches to achieve this. Depending on the level of each student, the programme has more or less communicative practice, although all classes are taught in Spanish.
#16 Can I change groups/levels?
If at the beginning of your Spanish course you find that the level of the class does not correspond to your level, you can request to change to a higher level. You will need to speak to your teacher to discuss the change with the school’s management team.
#17 How far in advance do I have to enrol?
Enrolment is open all year round. To secure your place on the course and accommodation, we recommend that you book early. If you want to come very soon, but are not sure if we have availability, you can contact us via the chat in the bottom left corner of this page.
#18 Do I have to bring any materials or textbooks?
Books are included in the registration fee. We recommend you bring a notebook and pens to make notes in class. If you wish, you can bring a small dictionary.
#19 Will I have exams?
We do internal exams at least once a month. But, don’t be overwhelmed! The main objective is to evaluate your progress with the language.
#20 Will I receive a certificate at the end of my Spanish summer course?
Yes! At the end of your Spanish summer course you will receive a Certificate indicating the type of course you have attended, the duration and the level you have reached.
